Red Snapper Days Off Playa Flamingo... A Week to Remember

Updated: Mar 22

Our guest Jean-François visiting from France landed this beautiful Queen Snapper (Pargo Seda) on a half-day trip out of Marina Flamingo. Solid deep-water catch and great reward for a short day offshore.

Out of Playa Flamingo this week, the ocean has been treating us right!!

We’ve been heading offshore early, running just far enough from Marina Flamingo to hit those deep ledges where the water drops off fast. You can feel it when you’re over the right spot; lines go down, and not long after, you get that steady pull from the bottom.

That’s been the story lately… Pargo Seda (Red Snapper).

This fish usually lives deep, around 200 to 300 feet, hanging around rocky structures and ledges. Bright red color, big eyes from the depth, and a strong, steady fight all the way up. Not flashy, but solid.

And yeah… it’s one of the best eating fish out here. Clean white meat, firm, and perfect on the grill or fresh that same day. A lot of guys come for the fishing, but they remember the meal just as much.

Some days it’s quiet for a bit, just the sound of the ocean and the reel clicking… then boom!! double hookup. Those are the moments people remember.

It’s not just about catching fish out here. It’s the run offshore, the color of the water, the crew working together, and that feeling when you’re holding a fish that came from way down deep.

We’ve seen a few families and small groups this week, some first-timers, some experienced , didn’t matter. Everyone got a shot, everyone had that moment.

If you’re around Playas del Coco or Flamingo and the ocean looks like glass in the morning… yeah, that’s usually a good sign.

That’s how this week’s been. Quiet, steady, and solid Red Snapper fishing.
